The Best Practices to Store Your Cannabis

Marijuana is becoming more and more legal in the United States, with some states legalizing recreational use. Marijuana packaging can be challenging to understand, but Marijuana storage is a whole other story. Marijuana has many forms: buds (the green stuff), kief (a concentrated form of cannabis that you smoke out of a pipe), hash (another concentrate for smoking) and edibles. Keeping marijuana properly stored helps keep it fresh and flavorful so you can enjoy it over time without having to worry about spoilage or potency loss!

## Use parchment to prevent damage

For preventing damages, using parchment paper is the best method. Marijuana has high water content, and if it starts to dry out, it can become brittle and break apart easily. Paper is not effective as an airtight seal since marijuana will also start to disintegrate when exposed to oxygen for too long.

Parchment seals in moisture from the environment while still letting some fresh air circulate through the packaging material so that your cannabis stays moist enough without having any negative effects of being exposed to light or humidity levels over time. The most important thing about storing marijuana properly is preventing damage! Protecting against mold growth with brown rice flour or another antifungal agent helps ensure you won’t be dealing with unwanted side effects later down the road like taste changes, lost potency and quality. Marijuana packaging should also be stored with a moisture barrier to prevent damage from water exposure, which can lead to mold growth or potency loss over time.

Parchment paper is the best option for cannabis storage because it protects against air-related damages while still allowing some fresh air circulation, so your marijuana stays moist and flavorful without spoilage! There are many types of products available on the market that offer different levels of protection for storing your pot: plastic bags, glass jars, metal tin cans, mason jars, travel containers.

## Wrap it in foil in the short term

You do not need to buy expensive, specialized containers for cannabis storage. Marijuana can easily be wrapped in aluminum foil and stored in a glass jar or plastic container with an airtight seal. Brown paper bags work well too because they don’t have any harmful chemicals on them as food-grade plastics do. Cannabis is sensitive to light so make sure it’s kept dark as well – this means storing it away from windows or using opaque containers that are sealed tight.

## Keep it moist, but not too moist

Marijuana is an organic product, which means that it needs water to survive. If you store your buds in a dry environment they will lose their moisture and become more susceptible to molding or breaking down with time. Marijuana can also get stale if left out too long without any humidity so make sure to pay attention to the amount of air circulation in the space you are storing your cannabis. You want to promote the flow of air, while still keeping it moist and humidified.

If buds or leaves feel dry, that is a sign they need more water, but make sure not to over-water them because this could lead to molding issues as well. Marijuana should be stored in an air-tight container, preferably glass as this will keep out oxygen and other air pollutants. Marijuana should be stored in a cool, dark place that is away from excessive heat or sunlight.

## Spring for humidity packets

Marijuana is sensitive to harsh changes in humidity levels – so much so that a change as small as a few percentage points can make the difference between your cannabis being perfectly preserved or moldy and unusable.

Humidity packets, specifically designed for storing marijuana in temperature-controlled environments such as freezers or refrigerators, are some of the best ways to ensure that your weed stays fresh and potent throughout all four seasons.

Simply place one packet

Marijuana Storing: Use a humidor, which is essentially an airtight box that houses your cannabis and provides the perfect humidity level. You can find some online or in stores for purchase – it’s worth investing in one if you want to preserve your weed at its peak potency.

Frequency of use also has to be taken into consideration when deciding on the best way to store your weed. Marijuana is typically used in a more irregular manner than cigarettes, and so it may make sense for you to keep your pot stored with other household goods rather than specifically in an airtight container which can only be opened as needed.

– Marijuana Packaging: For cannabis that’s going into long-term storage, it’s important to keep the packaging as airtight and sturdy as possible. Marijuana will lose some potency over time – up to 20% in just a year or two – so you’ll want your pot stored inside something with an oxygen-free environment like vacuum sealing bags that can be placed straight into the freezer if desired.

## Keep it out of the fridge

If you’re looking for a way to store your cannabis, keep it out of the fridge. THC is an oil-soluble compound which means that any contact with moisture or water will cause degradation and loss in potency. Marijuana’s natural pH balance prohibits the growth of bacteria, but if there is mold on the marijuana when stored improperly then before you know it you’ve got a really icky situation. Marijuana should be stored in an airtight container, and never left out where the light can reach it or near any other food products (especially spicy foods).
